Innovation in the Energy Sector – Profitably meeting the demands of a low-carbon world

The global energy sector presents an enormous opportunity for new and existing companies to meet the challenges of energy security, affordability and sustainability.

The energy sector is, however, characterised by its countless different manifestations – the broad categories of building energy use, transport, industry, and domestic use, represent only a tiny refinement in our understanding of how the world uses energy. The myriad of different energy sources, services, applications, and even greater number of potential improvements and innovations in these products and services means that the energy sector poses a real challenge to policy makers and industry leaders keen on fostering innovation.

So how should companies in the energy sector, and Irish companies in particular, respond to this challenge? What’s in it for them? How can policy makers help? Can the energy sector learn from other sectors? Is the sector really a unique challenge?

The Innovation in the Energy Sector Conference will address these questions and highlight the opportunities for Cork and Ireland in the energy sector.
